The Social Mobility Index

CollegeNET is the developer of the Social Mobility Index (SMI), which ranks nearly 1,400 four-year institutions according to how effectively they enroll students from low-income backgrounds and graduate them into promising careers. Established in 2013 in response to the growing economic disparity in the U.S. and the role higher education plays in perpetuating that divide, the SMI provides an antidote to popular college rankings that measure schools according to wealth, prestige, and exclusivity.
